(PTI) Perfume businessman Piyush Jain, whose home were searched last year, and where around 200 crores of cash as well as 23 kilograms of gold were taken by the central government agencies He was granted bail after having spent eight months in the jail here, authorities said.
His arrest shortly prior to his arrest just before Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls had caused a controversy which resulted in the BJP accusing the Kanpur-based perfume trader known as a “friend” of the Samajwadi Party (SP). The opposition party accused Jain was part of the BJP.

“Piyush Jain was released from jail following the release order issued by the special chief judicial magistrate,” said Kanpur Jail Superintendent Bidhu Dutt Pandey, who was in Kanpur on Thursday.
A release warrant was granted through the special CJM following Jain’s bail plea was approved in the Allahabad High Court last week.
The particular CJM ordered to make two sureties of Rs 10 lakh , which were signed by his family members.
Jain was detained on December 26 after raids at his home led to the discovery of huge sums of cash and other valuables from police from Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI).
