- Biotech is a beauty-first field as Falguni Nayar has surpassed Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw to become the richest self-made woman in India with a net worth of Rs57,520 crore, according to Kotak Private Banking Hurun’s list of the country’s richest women.
Nayar’s rank climbed nine spots on the ranking, following the company she co-founded, Nykaa, went public last year.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO of HCL Technologies however retained her title as the most wealthy woman on the list , with an estimated amount of Rs84,330 for the second time in two years.
About 25 women have been added to it this year as per the report. The report also highlights that the amount of money needed to be included in the list has more than tripled from last year’s 300 crore rupees.
The women who are on the list for 2021 have an average of about Rs4,170 crore compared to Rs2,725 crore last year.
“Women-led the creation of wealth directly benefits women’s job opportunities, their families as well as the overall social. The inclusion of women which comprise 50 percent of India’s population , in the workforce, or in the process of creating wealth can break down societal obstacles,” said Anas Rahman Junaid MD, director of research of Hurun India.
