Chinese Astronauts Step Inside Wentian Lab Module after It Docks with Under-Construction Space Station

Its Tianhe module was released in April 2021 as was the Mengtian module. Mengtian module is scheduled to launch in the month of October of this year.

Three Chinese astronauts on the nation’s space station, which is under construction, have successfully made it into the lab module’s space for the very first time Monday, one day after the space lab was inaugurated in accordance with China Manned Space Agency. China Manned Space Agency.

China has launched its space lab named Wentian in the afternoon of Sunday launching the nation’s largest spacecraft ever into orbit to join the space station called Tiangong which is currently in construction.

Its Wentian module docked with entrance port to the space station in early morning hours of Monday, shortly after it entered the orbit planned for.

This is the first time China’s two spacecraft of 20 tonnes performed docking and rendezvous in orbit. It was also the first time docking and space rendezvous occurred during the astronauts’ stay in orbit in the space station The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) informed the media.

After docking, three astronauts building their space stations entered into the laboratory, Xinhua news agency reported.

This was also the first time that Chinese astronauts had been in the lab module orbit.

The astronauts will carry out on-orbit tasks, such as controlling the angle of the combined that is the space station and small arm crawling, and the testing of the system of big smaller and big arms.

They also will use the cabin with airlocks and the tiny motorized arm from Wentian to conduct extravehicular tasks, the state-run Xinhua news agency said.

In the next few days, Wentian will be repositioned using a robot to move from the docking station in front, to a port that is lateral, in which it will be able to stay and be ready for longer-term missions, mission planners stated.

The lab module is expected to serve as a backup for the core module , and also as a powerful research platform, the state-owned China Daily reported.

The lab is approximately as big as an average metro car is also the largest single-cabin active spacecraft worldwide as per Liu Gang, deputy chief designer of China’s Space station, manned space program’s system.

The Wentian module is comprised of the work cabin with an airlock and a resource cabin the Xinhua report noted.

It is expected that the China’s Tiangong space station scheduled to be completed in the coming year. It will then transform from a simple structure to an national space laboratory that has three modules – the main module, known as Tianhe and two lab modules dubbed Wentian as well as Mengtian.

Its Tianhe module was first launched in April 2021 while Mengtian was launched in April 2021. Mengtian module is scheduled to launch in October this year.

Then in the future, it is expected that the Wentian module will meet at the docking space station. that is the space station in accordance with the planned procedure.

The three astronauts put to orbit in June will aid in build the modules for the space station for six months.

While in orbit, they’ll also see the Tianzhou-5 cargo vessel and the Shenzhou-15 spaceship docking alongside the main module.

Then, they’ll be able to live and work alongside the next astronauts, before returning to Earth.

If it’s completed China’s space station that is low-flying will be the sole nation to have an orbiting space station. Space Station International Space Station (ISS) of Russia is a project that is co-created by from several nations.

China Space Station (CSS) is also anticipated to compete with the ISS constructed by Russia. Some observers believe that CSS could become the only space station that will remain in orbit after the ISS is scheduled to retire in the next years.

The main aspect of China’s in-construction space station are its robotic arms, in particular the longer one, that the US has expressed concerns about its capability to grab satellites and other objects from space.

The 10-meter-long arm previously successfully was able to move the 20-tonne Tianzhou-2 cargo vessel in a demonstration according to China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMSEO).
