Army personnel missing in boat capsize

(PTI) An soldier is believed to be missing following the boat that was he was working capsized on the River Brahmaputra in Assam’s Sonitpur district, a defence official said here on Monday.

Three soldiers were rowing a boat for country in the river in the Solmara in the district, when it abruptly crashed on Sunday night.

Two of them made it to safety, while the third is missing, an official added.

A search and rescue operation has been initiated through the National Disaster Response Force, the official said.

A missing Army personnel is determined to be Anil Kumar an employee of Gajraj Corps. Gajraj Corps here, he said.

The field formation for military that is part of the Indian Army covers the states of Assam and the western region of Arunachal Pradesh.
