AR Rahman On What He learned at MIT and the Use of AI in Music

He is Oscar winning composer famous for his soundtracks to films like Roja, Bombay, Jodhaa Akbar, Rang De Basanti and Lagaan.

The music composer AR Rahman said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is going to be around for a while, and helps with certain tasks however, he also said that AI will not eliminate jobs. Participating on The Good Time Show, Rahman stated that he has enrolled in an education course in AI at the highly regarded Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In the last few years the legendary composer performed music for the Tiger Shroff’s starring the film Heropanti 2.Mimiand Atrangi Re. He also attended this year’s Cannes Film Festival in May this year.

I went to a course on MIT about Imaging, AI and cluster computing. It was beneficial, Rahman told The Good Time Show hosts Aarthi and Sriram and Sriram, stating that he registered for the course to learn more about the ways that technology of the future can be integrated into music.

When asked whether AI can alter what music composition is created at present, Rahman said, I believe that I don’t believe that AI will be able to take over the music industry in a massive way, but maybe one or two composers could make use of AI. Every lyric, and all other music, needs to be coherent and originate from a human.

If you are required to be human in all aspects that is why you make choices that are best for humans and good for humanity. beneficial to people, and to be creative and create beauty for this world, He added.

In a further discussion about the application of AI the composer stated, Some of the things such as sorting samples, is very awesome. AI can do all of those things that take a long time to create

He is Oscar nominated and renowned for his score in films like Roja, Bombay, Jodhaa Akbar, Rang De Basanti, Lagaan among others.

He also is the winner of several of the top awards like two Grammys which include The Best Compilation Soundtrack for a Motion Picture (for Slumdog Millionaire) and Best Motion Picture Song (for Jai Ho). Rahman has also won the prestigious six National Awards and several Filmfare Awards from all over Bollywood in his home country of the South the film business.

Rahman was recently featured in the news after his youngest daughter Khatija Rahman was wed to sound engineer Riyasdeen Shaik Mohamed. The wedding was held at the home of family members as well as intimate friends during May of this year.
