(PTI) India experienced a single-day increase of 5379 coronavirus cases which brought the total of COVID-19-related cases to 4,44,721,241 as per Union health ministry’s data that was updated on Wednesday.
The active Covid cases have decreased to 50,594, whereas the death toll has increased to 5,28,057 and 27 deaths which includes 11 deaths that were reconciled by Kerala the latest data released at 8 am revealed.
The active cases comprise 0.11 percent of total number of infections and the COVID-19 national recovery rate has risen to 98.70 percent as per the health ministry.

A drop of 1,742 cases was registered in the COVID-19 caseload over a period time of just 24 hours.
The rate of positivity for the day was recorded as 1.67 percent, while the weekly rate of positivity was recorded at 2 percent in accordance with Health Ministry.
The number of patients who have recovered from the disease grew to 4,38,935,590. Meanwhile, the death rate for cases was recorded as 1.19 percent.
As per the Ministry, 213.91 million doses of Covid vaccinations were given across the country in the COVID-19 nationwide vaccination campaign.
The COVID-19 count in India reached 20 lakh on the 7th of August in 2020, followed by 30 lakh on August 23 and 20 lakh by September 5,, and 50 lakh on the 16th of September.
It crossed 60 lakh on the 28th of September 70 lakh on the 11th of October It it crossed 80 lakh on the 11th of October 29, and 90 million on 20 November, and then surpassed it by one crore 19 December.
India has surpassed the grim mark of two crores on May 4, followed by three crore on June 23rd last year and one crore in January, 2018.
The 16 fatalities are two deaths each of Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal among others.
