2 are sentenced to jail for the rape of minors in Rajasthan

(PTI) Two POCSO courts on Friday sent two men to prison for abducting and frequently sexually assaulting young girls from Rajasthan’s Bundi and Jhalawar districts.


Siyaram Meena (26), an Indian resident of the Khanpura neighborhood in Jhalawar He was sentenced to a life-long imprisonment for raping a 17-year old girl in the Hindoli police station area in Bundi three years in the past. The court also imposed an amount of the sum of Rs 2.15 lakh to the accused.

Meena had taken the girl from her grandmother’s home in May, 2019 and kept her in captivity and repeatedly assaulted her for three months Public prosecutor Rakesh Thakur told the court.

Hindoli police saved the girl in August. They also arrested the suspect but the accused was released on bail.

Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Judge Salim Badar, on Friday, found Meena to be guilty of abduction, sexual abuse and rape as per subsections of Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act.

The court ruled that 2 lakhs of the fine be paid to the victim in compensation.

In a separate case an Indian tribunal at Jhalawar handed 23 year-old Bhagwan Singh Tanwar 20-years in prison for abducting and raping an 16-year-old girl in the month of December of 2019. The court also handed him an amount of Rs 65,000 in fines by the judge.

A father made an police complaint on December 4, 2019, which led to the girl being then rescued from Bhilwara district two months later in February, 2020. Tanwar was a resident of Bhalta police station in Jhalawar was arrested.

POCSO Judge Pradeep Kumar Verma found Tanwar as guilty of rape and abduction in the section s. IPC as well as the POCSO Act.
